Principal Service Solutions is hiring Field Service Engineers who will be responsible for the installations, qualification, repair, and maintenance of Metrology systems at customer sites and is responsible for the necessary transfer of know-how to the customer.

Pay Range: $25-$35/hr DOE

Position Summary

Field Service Engineers (FSE) are responsible for the installation, preventative maintenance, and repairs of semiconductor equipment at customer facilities.  FSE’s will maintain the following sub-systems:  Electronic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, vacuum, optical, lasers, and wafer transfer systems (including robots).  Training is provided on a formal or on-the-job (OTJ) basis.  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete assigned formal and OJT with the goal of instrument certification
  • Manage and maintain traveling inventory according to department policy and procedure
  • Protect and maintain company property
  • Pick up and return messages and service calls from customers in a manner meeting service department policies
  • Maintain appropriate records of all work performed and training received
  • Portray professionalism and pride in appearance while conforming to company policies
  • Provide a positive attitude to all employees and customers
  • Comply and adhere to company policies
  • Strong work ethic
  • Other duties as assigned

Educational Requirements:

  • AS degree in Electronics Engineering (or relevant field) or equivalent combination of education and experience as a minimum
  • BS degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of analog and digital circuitry
  • Knowledge and understanding of mechanical principles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with management, co-workers, internal and external customer
  • Ability to effectively communicate information to customers and management regarding service activities and schedules
  • Ability to follow precise instructions
  • Ability to perform service calls (Preventive Maintenance and Repairs) on one or more models of a product line (measured by instrument certification)
  • Knowledge and understanding of physics and chemistry
  • Ability to work from schematics using various test equipment and mathematical calculations specific to electronic
  • Ability to effectively interface with customers and service department personnel
  • Ability to communicate (read, write, and speak) in English effectively

Experience, Travel and Other Requirements:

  • Experience using digital volt meters, oscilloscopes, hand tools, and computers
  • Experience reading electrical schematic
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time
  • Eligible to be added to customer’s insurance
  • Must have and retain a valid driver’s license in resident State
  • Eligible to acquire a passport

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to see small objects within a confined area
  • Ability to quickly transport from location to location using various means of transport
  • Ability to transport parts and/or tools from car to equipment site
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally 
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently
  • Ability to use hand tools
  • Hand-eye coordination at a level to support a range of delicate activities
